BTS Gold Line Bangkok Train

The BTS Gold Line is the only train route connecting the ICONSIAM shopping mall with Bangkok city. As the shopping mall is located on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River in the less frequently visited part of the city, reaching it by public transportation was quite complicated before opening the Gold Line. The best option for getting to ICONSIAM until then was by one of the Bangkok river ferries that might not be suitable for everyone. Now the shopping mall can be reached by easily transferring between train lines instead of getting on a boat, even if this option is still available for the ones who like a more adventurous way of traveling around the cities.

The Bangkok Gold Line is managed by the same company that operates the BTS Green Line, but it is not an integrated part of the main BTS system, so ticketing is separate. You can simplify the process of traveling on BTS Green Line and Gold Line by purchasing a BTS Rabbit card, which can be booked online and conveniently picked up at the airport on arrival.

Bangkok Gold Line Train Tickets

There are two types of Bangkok BTS Gold Line tickets that can be used for traveling on this line:

  1. Single journey ticket.
  2. Rabbit Card.

1. BTS Gold Line Single Journey Ticket

Bangkok Gold Line Train tickets for a single journey can be purchased at ticket-issuing machines. You need Thai Baht coins for buying a ticket. If there’s a need, banknotes can be changed to coins at the ticket office.

At the Gold Line train station, tickets can only be purchased for stations within the line, and you will need to buy another ticket at the BTS station if you are looking to extend your trip with the BTS SkyTrain.

2. Rabbit Card

To simplify traveling on Bangkok metro, you can purchase a Rabbit Card that can be topped up and used for traveling not only with the Gold Line but also with the BTS Green Line, the MRT Yellow Line, the MRT Pink Line, and the Chao Phraya Express Boat. Rabbit cards can be bought at any MRT Yellow Line, Pink Line, or BTS Station ticket office. The Rabbit card can also be conveniently picked up at the airport by booking online here: Rabbit Card online.
